Reiki Background Information

Reiki is one of the most ancient healing methods know to mankind. It originated in Tibet and was rediscovered in the Nineteenth Century by a Japanese Monk named Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki strengthens and harmonizes the immune system, and cleanses the body of toxins.' Emotional blocks are often released. It accelerates the normal healing process because it addresses all levels, (emotional, spiritual, physical and mental) allowing the opportunity to fully heal any situation by getting to its origin.

Every illness is trying to tell us something about ourselves, what we need to learn, and has a specific message for us. Firstly we must recognise and accept this message. The symptom demands attention. It is most important not to reject and repress the illness, but to understand its signals. Through the physical symptoms something is shown to us. If we accept the challenge and are honest with ourselves, we can learn from it. We have taken the first step toward healing. When we are ill, we need to search our hearts to see "Who" it is we need to forgive. The “Course of Miracles” says that all "dis-ease" comes from a state of unforgiveness. And that whenever we are ill, we need to look around to see who it is that we need to forgive; maybe it is a parent, co-worker, friend or ourselves….

My own background and learning comes from the living and healing of my own personal illnesses. Everything I have learnt has been from the experience of doing the journey myself first-hand, and from that experience I am here to guide, help and share all the information and learnings I have gathered. We are all responsible for our own peace. I am able to share a lot of my life’s lessons, and consequently in my Reiki workshops, I open my students up to the possibility of reading their own bodies intuitively.

Times now are very stressful for families; people are looking to taking back their own power and trying to find ways in which to help themselves and their children. Men and women are now attending nutrition and fitness classes, improving their diets, exploring alternatives by employing homeopathic, naturopathic and herbal medicines and seeking peace with yoga, meditation or reflexology. Complementary to all of these modalities, Reiki is becoming increasingly popular in reducing stress, anxiety, and promoting a sense of inner peace. In addition, Reiki is being used in hospitals for the treatment of all kinds of ailments, including chronic illnesses such as cancer. It has also been successfully used on animals, in particular those in shelters. Reiki can be beneficial for all people, from all walks of life and age groups.

When we are healthy, we feel strong, full of energy and enjoy life. We are balanced, contented and in harmony with ourselves. If we "fall out"of this harmony our body creates an illness or an imbalance. This kind of disturbance first takes place in the mind and is later mirrored as a physical symptom. The body is a reflection of our mental state. Every illness is trying to tell us something and has a specific message for us. First, we must recognize and accept these messages. The symptoms demand attention. It is most important not to reject and repress the illness, but to understand its signals. Through the physical symptoms something is shown to us. There is no peace in the world until you find peace within yourself in this moment. If we accept the challenge and are honest with ourselves, we can learn from it.....We have taken the first step towards healing.
